Assumptions & Limits
- Preset values speed up the setup but do not replace final section or material verification.
- The page is designed for fast deflection and reaction checks.
- Local code rules, long-term effects, and connection details still need separate review.

S235 Material Reference
| Material grade | S235 structural steel |
| Elastic modulus E | 210 GPa |
| Yield strength fy | 235 MPa |
| Typical density | 7850 kg/m^3 |
| Preset support case | Simply supported beam |
| Preset loading | Uniform load |
| Preset section stiffness I | 2500 cm^4 |
Engineering Notes
- For elastic deflection checks, S235 uses essentially the same modulus as other standard structural steels, so stiffness is governed more by section geometry than by grade choice.
- Use this page when the steel grade is known but the final rolled or hollow section is still open.
- If your beam is already selected, replace the preset inertia with the exact section value instead of treating the default stiffness as representative.
