Calculation Basis
Assumptions & Limits
- The page appuis preliminaire checks but does not replace full code compliance revue.
- Allowable limits remain project-specific et must be checked separately.
- Module d'elasticite, inertia, et loading entrees must match the real member.
Reference Basis
- Documentation: Methodology
- Documentation: Engineering Review
- Roark's Formulas for Stress and Strain
- Mechanics of Materiaux references
- AISC steel design reference
AISC-Oriented Setup
| Starting units | ft, kip, ksi, in^4 |
| Typical material basis | Structural steel with E about 29,000 ksi |
| Courant poutre case | Simply supported beam with full-span uniform load |
| Typical sequence | Compute response first, then check against the project limit |
| Actuel preset portee | 30 ft |
| Actuel preset charge | 2.0 kip/ft |
Notes techniques
- This page starts in imperial mode because AISC-style checks usually begin avec feet, kip, ksi, et inch-based section data.
- The calculatrice gives the elastic response engine, but the acceptable fleche limit still depends on occupancy, finishes, framing role, et project criteria rather than on one universal AISC number.
- If the poutre is part of a continuous frame, has partial restraint, or needs code-specific charge combinations, move on to the advanced poutre pages or the standards pages.
